Starting on the right foot!

The Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago held their quarterly internship fair yesterday, and I must say it was a success! Most of the students who stopped by my booth were senior or students who had experience in their field, but I did have other students who were freshmen or sophomores who showed interest as well.

So I propose a question: when is the perfect time for students to start looking for an internship?

Good question...right? For all my fashionistas who want to make a mark in the fashion industry, here is my advice:
  1. Research: In order to start you career in fashion, you MUST narrow down on what you want to focus on. FASHION is such a HUGE industry, and there are so many avenues you can take! So do your RESEARCH!!!!
  2. Volunteer: Volunteering is soo important! Whether it is helping out at a fashion show as a dresser or in a showroom as a sales associate. If you work hard as a volunteer, you will be a pro by the time you are an intern!
  3. Networking: This is the necessity to survive in this industry. You want your face to be known, and you never know who knows who!
Here are some sites to help you get involved in the industry:

Traveling in Spain

In Route to Bilboa Spain I stopped through Madrid. This picture was taken in one of Madrid's many butcher shops during the day. The activity throughout the city's restaurants was always lively.

Its energy just never stopped!! The food in Madrid was "orgasmic" as Anthony Bourdain commented on Madrid (during a food binge in the seafood market). Yes, I can also 100% agree with that statement!

Side Note: Madrid's olives are my friends for life...

Ciao!

Sorry, Ms. Jackson...

Imagine...discussing life and frequencies with songstress Erykah Badu. In December 2010 at the UIC pavilion, I had the opportunity to meet and speak with her personally!!!!

Special thanks to Mr. Ron Trent, who just came out with a remix with Ms. Badu.

FYI...I am a HUGE fan of Erykah Badu...and yes, she has someone personally massaging her feet...LOL!!!
