Starting on the right foot!

The Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago held their quarterly internship fair yesterday, and I must say it was a success! Most of the students who stopped by my booth were senior or students who had experience in their field, but I did have other students who were freshmen or sophomores who showed interest as well.

So I propose a question: when is the perfect time for students to start looking for an internship?

Good question...right? For all my fashionistas who want to make a mark in the fashion industry, here is my advice:
  1. Research: In order to start you career in fashion, you MUST narrow down on what you want to focus on. FASHION is such a HUGE industry, and there are so many avenues you can take! So do your RESEARCH!!!!
  2. Volunteer: Volunteering is soo important! Whether it is helping out at a fashion show as a dresser or in a showroom as a sales associate. If you work hard as a volunteer, you will be a pro by the time you are an intern!
  3. Networking: This is the necessity to survive in this industry. You want your face to be known, and you never know who knows who!
